My eyes open

To a new day

My beautiful child

Slowly stirring in bed

Waking Up in the Morning

The day can begin in a whirlwind or it can begin from a point of calm. The difference is not dependent on what our morning entails, but rather how we choose to attend to it.  Each morning we awake to a new day and another opportunity to feel joy.  Turn your thoughts to your children just prior to arising from bed.  Breathe deeply before reciting the verse.  And then breathe deeply again after reading it.  There is such joy to be felt in the moment between and during breaths.  Slow this moment down and visualize your child in her bed, awakening as you have just done.  Stretch your body and imagine your child stretching.  If you yawn, imagine your child yawning.  If you rub your eyes, imagine your child rubbing hers.  Let the synchronicity within this moment bring a smile to your face and allow yourself to enjoy this gift life has given you.
