This verse builds on the verse “Driving on the Freeway.” How wonderful to take an experience as mundane, and sometimes annoying, as the appearance of brake lights, and turn it into a joyful cue. This simple verse can be used as often as brake lights appear. It reinforces the image of us as red blood cells in our child’s body. Breathe deep and oxygenate! As with all verses, smile as you recite it. If it is nighttime, smile as you marvel over the flood of bright red lights filling the road before you. You may be surprised to find, when you see your child at the end of the day, just how much these simple recitations can enhance the joy of that moment.
The more sensory experience we bring into the moment, the greater the connection will be. If you have ever heard the swishing sound of blood flowing through the body, use this opportunity to not only imagine yourself as a blood cell course through your child’s body, but also allow yourself to sense the sound of that flow.
